Chief Financial Officer

Our client, an operator within the public sector, is recruiting a Chief Financial Officer to join their team. Being responsible for managing, controlling and coordinating the activities and initiatives of the company, the ideal candidate will manage the overall finance function of the company whilst providing financial advice and guidance to C-Levels. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to deliver proactive and strategic plans and schedules and to develop and implement annual financial plans
  • Liaising with the CEO in the formulation and development of financial policies, procedures and programmes.
  • Managing the operations of the Finance Department and ensuring that these are in support of the company’s business and processes.
  • Overseeing the financial management of the Finance Department and ensuring its operations are within the budget allocated.
  • Planning, organising, controlling and directing all financial operations and activities
  • Ensuring that adequate financial controls are set in place and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all financial activities/expenditures pass independent and governmental audits
  • Analysing and reviewing budgetary and financial data and controls and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established limitations.
  • Overseeing all purchasing and payroll activity and all payments pertaining to client claims resulting from incentive schemes.
  • Monitoring and overseeing all banking activities and ensuring a continuous and adequate cash flow
  • Establishing, managing, and coordinating all fiscal reporting activities and ensuring that these are continuously updated.
  • Participating in the analysis of trends to identify opportunities for expansion and projections of future company growth.
  • Analysing trends to identify and promote opportunities for cost-efficiency
  • Escalating any unusual/disquieting financial trends, and recommending appropriate corrective action as appropriate
  • Providing input and participating in procurement and contract processes.
  • Assisting and participating in internal and/or external audits as appropriate.
  • Establishing and implementing policies and standards related to finance.
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal and statutory requirements.
  • Recommending appropriate changes to business and enterprise support legislation that facilitate the attainment of strategic objectives.
  • Investigating compliance issues and coordinating responses to regulatory inquiries or examinations.
  • Reviewing, introducing, and managing robust tenant and lease administration framework, including legal and contractual matters, to secure optimal return on investment.
  • Reviewing contractual documents as requested.
  • Drawing up the business plan for the Finance Division
  • Identifying Key Performance Indicators and Key Performance Targets and securing quality benchmarks and reviews to ensure excellence within the Finance Division.
  • Providing training to employees on financial topics and financial best practices.
  • Preparing and presenting reports and other documentation to Senior Management as necessary whilst attending briefings and meetings as necessary.
  • Carrying out any other duties that may be required from time to time.

Experience & Skills:

  • Fully qualified accountant with a Master's in Accountancy or ACCA.
  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in a relevant field/similar position
  • Meticulous and attentive to detail
  • Conscientious and problem-solving
  • Able to manage a team whilst working on own projects
  • Ability to manage the time accordingly and reach deadlines
  • Assertive leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent command of the English language
