Senior Risk Executive

Our client, is seeking a qualified candidate to lead the risk team and support the implementation of an organization-wide Risk Management framework and process.

As the Senior Risk Executive, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and overseeing the activities of the risk team.
  • Conducting research and analysis on various risk factors impacting the gaming industry and the jurisdiction of Malta.
  • Developing strategies and measures to mitigate identified risks.
  • Implementing and monitoring a comprehensive Risk Management framework.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Drafting reports and presenting findings to senior management and the Board.
  • Developing risk management policies and procedures.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders to coordinate on risk-related matters.
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Providing regular updates and reports on risk performance.
  • Representing the Authority in conferences and forums.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by senior management.
  • Managing and leading the recruitment and effective management of the risk team.
  • Reviewing and providing input on reports and analyses prepared by the risk team.
  • Developing a robust risk architecture for the Authority, including drafting risk management policies and procedures.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments and maintaining an effective risk response plan.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the risk performance of the Authority.
  • Promoting a positive risk culture within the organization and ensuring the efficient management of the risk process.
  • Conducting comprehensive research on various risk factors impacting the gaming industry, the Maltese jurisdiction, and the Authority.
  • Providing risk mitigation advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with the First and Third Line of Defense functions within the Authority and external stakeholders, such as the FIAU, the NCC, and other Government Bodies, to consult and coordinate on risk-related matters.
  • Assisting in training staff on risk-related facets and roles.
  • Providing regular updates on activities as directed by superiors.
  • Assisting the Board of Governors in establishing the Authority's risk appetite.
  • Representing the Authority in conferences and forums as required.
  • Fulfilling any other duties or tasks assigned by the Chief Risk Office

Experience & Skills

  • Possession of a first degree in a relevant field or equivalent at MQF Level 6.
  • Postgraduate qualification in risk management is not mandatory but considered an asset.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in a related area and role. Candidates with longer relevant experience will be preferred.
  • Certification from an internationally recognized Institute/Organization is considered an asset.
  • Relevant experience in the gaming industry is considered an asset.
  • Proven expertise in risk management concepts, approaches, methods, and techniques within an organization.
  • Ability to establish and implement an effective risk communication plan and a risk recording and reporting process.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to provide direction, mentor, and motivate the team.
  • Possess critical thinking skills, excellent analytical and numerical abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand broader business issues.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in organizing and presenting findings and recommendations in a constructive manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strategic thinking and action-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrates ownership and takes action in line with agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
